FAQs

What is the point of a rash vest?

Rash guard

A rash vest provides protection from the sun's harmful rays as well as skin irritation caused by neoprene wetsuits, surfers and saltwater and sand. It also helps keep you warm if you spend long periods of time when surfing or doing water sports during cooler temperatures.

What are the types of rash vests?

Thermal rash vests

Rash guards come in various styles for different uses. Some are designed primarily for sun protection, sunscreen while others are made with thicker materials to provide extra warmth, a thermal rash vest. We offer short-sleeve and long-sleeve options in tight-fitting and loose-fitting designs and thermal rash guard vests perfect for cold-weather activities. We do have rash guards for women and women's rash vests and rash guards for men, as we are different shapes.

How do I choose the right rash vest for me?

If you plan to spend most of your time outdoors during warmer months, then a lightweight short-sleeve option should suffice; if it’s colder out, opt for a long-sleeve rash vests or thermal design that will provide extra warmth without sacrificing comfort or your range of mobility.

Do you wear a bra under a rash vest?

There’s no right or wrong answer to this question – it’s entirely up to personal preference! Some people feel more comfortable wearing a bra under their rashguard, while others find that going braless is more comfortable. There are a few things to consider when making your decision:

If you have a larger chest, wearing a bra while using a rashguard can help provide added support and prevent it from riding up. However, if you have a smaller chest or a narrower frame, wearing a bra may not be necessary and could potentially cause discomfort. If you anticipate spending an extended amount of time in the water, a rashguard with built-in support, like an Under Armour sports bra, might be worth considering.

Should rash vest be tight or loose?

Having worn a loose-fit rash vest or sun shirt, they are very comfortable and an ideal way to provide protection from the sun. Perfect if you are in and out of the water and not wearing a wetsuit. Even with a long sleeve rash, you need suncream on any exposed skin. The tight fitting rash vest is perfect to wear under a wetsuit, protection your from a wetsuit chaffing and rubbing against you.

Both the tight and loose fitting rash vests are quick drying but do not keep you warm, if you are after extra warmth under a wetsuit, you would need a thermal vest or if you are looking to just keep the chill off while on the water a neoprene top or even a shorty wetsuit would be better.
